October 23, 2002 - Not the "happy birthday" I was hoping for. Fruit mostly faded, wine relies on good earthy character and moderate spice, and even has a reasonably long and balanced finish.. Wine is clearly well made and comes across as elegant and charming but it almost seems like a toned down RSV, but I guess that's the 1987 vintage.
