November 23, 2023 - My first experience with this appellation so I don’t have much context, but I really enjoyed this wine. It paired wonderfully with roast goose and an assortment of sides. Opened and poured about 3 hours before drinking; I don’t see this improving much more with additional age, but would consider decanting since it threw a fair amount of sediment. Flavors described in prior notes were accurate. A little funk on the nose blew off fairly quickly and left a lovely, complex bouquet. Somewhat translucent ruby color with a matching light body, but no shortage of balanced flavor. An elegant wine and great with this meal.

July 18, 2022 - Multi hour decant, the nose and palate are in step, with a complex mix of red fruit, cherry, spices, underbrush. This has aged well and has some of the classic tar and violet notes that a Gattinara nebbiolo typically reveals.

April 18, 2019 - Ruby red, some maturity showing in the glass
Quite sweet nose with cherries and balsamic aromas. After a while the ine changed a bit in the glass, loosing some of the lovely fruit and showing more vinegar / coffee aromas.
Medium bodied, good consentration, hits in front of the palate with a long aftertaste.
A very good Gattinara from a year with very ripe fruit, ut definately fully mature. ill not improve from further cellaring, Drink up! -

August 8, 2017 - Alto Piemonte (The Gander, NYC): Big smoky red fruit nose. Rich, tannic, and expressive in the mouth. Very good potential here, but I would give it at least another 5 years.

October 27, 2016 - Rating with reservations. A normal 6 hr opening, 3 hr decant. Showed initial VA which continued to varying degrees thoughout the bottle. Started with a sharp wiff of VA and then opened more to reveal, raspberry, tar, licorice notes. Became quite nice when paired with some acidic food, mainly tomatoes. Without some of the food residue the VA came creeping back to diminish the overall wine. Where this goes I don't know. I liked it much more than the 91 when the VA was absent.
