August 21, 2011 - Wow, very nice, an aged Bordeaux blend Australian style. Here we are 15 years past harvest, and there is still the vanilla of new oak on the nose. Come to find out, this is American oak. Even on the palate, the oak dictates the viscosity, and the flavor. There is lots to love here. What must have been super ripe fruit in youth, has morphed into those secondary flavors of caramel and red licorice, while still maintaining a strong sense of cherry, red raspberry and blackberry. At first pour it was a little sharp, and quite tight, showing some serious alcohol. As it got some glass time, that sharpness turned into richness. The acid and tannins were characteristic of a ripe, high alcohol wine with a little age on it. I think decanting would have opened things up a lot. The finish ended up being mocha, leather, black licorice, and molasses with vanilla, and lasted for several minutes.

July 2, 2001 - NobleRottersSydney - Rosemount wines with Neil Hadley MW (Darling Mills, Glebe): Much richer & spicier nose then the 97. This is very good. Richly flavoured, with medium length finish. Lots of rich McLaren Vale fruit qualities.

October 1, 2000 - ($20) Grenache-Shiraz-Mourvedre blend. The nose suggests French Syrah with a touch of added ripeness and a touch of green herbs and meat. Ripe and concentrated fruit, medium-full bodied and very drinkable. Fair value.
