Community Tasting Notes 3

December 16, 2022 - This has aged gracefully, showing minimal if any oxidative character. That said, it speaks quietly in a tertiary whisper - all dried strawberry and dried cranberry and earthy dark chocolate now. The tannins and acidity still provide a balanced, silky structure. This will fade out quietly.

December 2, 2015 - Rolled the dice on this one on Winebid bc the price was too enticing @ 15+shipping. Was kind of regretting it figuring it may be past it's peak but luckily I was wrong! Beautiful purple color with a tinge of bricking, moderate sediment, fully integrated tannins, but still enough acidity to provide some backbone. I would have definetly pegged this as a bordeaux which makes sense with the 79% merlot/13% cab/4% each cab franc & malbec. If I can find some more of this blend in some of the better late 90s vintages I may just have to roll the dice again. I think it's probably in a graceful decline, don't see it improving, so if you have 'em it's a good time too drink up!

December 25, 2013 - This wine was strong and long, deep berry color, no bricking, viscous legs that wouldn't quite. The nose hints at the complexity ahead. Complex, deep and deceptive, consumed over a period of 3 1/2 hrs the flavors kept evolving. Dusty tannins, bit of dark chocolate, sweet earthy black cherries, more like a right bank Bordeaux, and no wonder with 79% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Malbec. Most impressive for almost 20 year old vintage Napa juice!
