April 30, 2022 - Not quite the big boy I was expecting, but I probably shouldn't have waited so long to drink it. Nevertheless, it delivered most of what I hope to get from a syrah. Plenty of dark fruits, minerals, creosote, and herbs. Very well balanced and enjoyable. Probably time to drink up.

September 3, 2021 - Wow, this was a big syrah without being jammy or sweet. Lots of black fruit and tar. This went great with lamb. Interesting that I just paid the exact same price (including shipping) for the 2019 - go Carlisle!

October 23, 2020 - Just brilliant! The quintessential Carlisle freshness on top af packed and dense fruit. Balance and structure was impeccable and the nose kept inviting to explore.

September 16, 2020 - A mature but still fruitful syrah enjoyed over 2 days. Similar notes and enjoyment both days.

August 2, 2020 - Opaque violet color with intriguing aromas of black and blue fruit, leather, smoked meat, dried herb and a hint of mint. On the palate it's medium-bodied with mouth-watering zesty acidity, and gauzy tannins. It has amp blueberry, boysenberry, black raspberry flavors beautifully accented with savory dried herbs, citrus zest and a graphic minerality. Long finish. 14.8% abv|SRP - $38 Rosella’s Vineyard is about as far north as possible for growing Syrah in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Any further north (i.e., closer to the fog and wind of Monterey Bay) and consistent ripening would become an issue. But in this exceedingly cool vintage, even here at Rosella’s we wondered if the fruit was going to make it. Twenty-five percent whole cluster. Twenty-one days on the skins. Twenty percent new French oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Fruity day one, savory day 2!
