August 15, 2014 - Great with grilled foods. Some spice and fruit up front. Good balance, but not a real strong finish. I think this is probably peaking if not just past...

June 11, 2014 - Recently bought from Garagiste. Corked. Down the sink. Happening a bit with their aged wines.

December 6, 2013 - Nose opened up two hours after opening. Nice fruit up front and balanced finish. Nice to sip after dinner!

September 13, 2013 - Nice garagiste find. Smooth, long finish, a little light on flavor and nose, but quite enjoyable.

July 8, 2013 - The Saint Laurent reserve syrah has more of a red tinge than I'm used to, being more familiar with syrahs dark as night. On the nose this offers up so much complexity with spicy clove, earthy clay, creme brulee, glycerin, cinnamon and nutmeg, and dark fruits that are a bit smudged and baked. For all its ripeness this doesn't come across as heavy. The label doesn't say what type of oak was used but I believe it's French, which I appreciate. I don't miss the pudgy vanilla aspect I get with American oak. This really is a ringer for a Northern Rhone, perhaps Cornas, classier and less rustic than any Crozes I've ever had. The balance here is impeccable. I think the fruit will start to decay in the next 18 to 24 months so I suggest enjoying this by summer, 2015. Killer juice.
