March 17, 2024 - Happy Bordeaux Sunday Dear Friends!
Very happy to report that is evolving as well as I was hoping 5 years ago.
👁️ is still pitch black with a minimal rim
👃 & 👄 tar, bacon fat, blackberry, mulberry, cedar, cigar box; great quality tannins which have a little bite at the end which I love for freshness paired with the fresh acidity, the finish is long and has some roasted hazelnuts.
Superb with the left over Risotto and Lamb. Suspect this is at apex for a while!
Decanted for 1h. Now - 2040

February 22, 2024 - Ikke dekantert. Begynner å nærme seg, behag, men noen motvillige tanniner. Behag også dag 2, men vent litt med neste.

April 5, 2023 - 3rd bottle from a half case. 84% Merlot and 14% cab franc. 14.5pc abv. Lots of sediment so needs careful decanting. Smoky blackcurrant and plum nose. Lots of soft fruit. Grainy soft tannins. Long finish. Has come together in the last two years and is no longer disjointed. Drinking well now and could still have some improvement to come although the high alcohol level and dominance of tannins over fruit are lurking in the background and will eventually take their toll.

March 17, 2023 - Fifth bottle from a full case purchased at auction in 2016. Not decanted, opened three hours in advance. On fine form, good weight but not marked by the 14.5% ABV, pure and precise and well-constructed, everything in the right place, wonderful sense of place, firm but gently textured tannins, very good resonance and length. At a lovely stage in its evolution. Drink now - 2030.
