Community Tasting Notes 10

August 31, 2023 - Having a lovely Hirtzberger tonight. A little softer than I might have expected but quite dry despite all the extract. Limes and petrol, not much stone, still has a little spritzy zest. Riper notes of melon appear, revealing its inner richness. Long, layered, even oily-unctuous, but never heavy. So good, so tasty. 93-94 pts.

August 4, 2021 - Nice showing. Bright, medium weight, pretty classic profile. Worked well with food with some spice.

March 31, 2021 - Riesling theme (Famous Treasure): Still very youthful, not much more advanced compared to the 2018 surprisingly. On opening I thought it was a little tight and needed a decant, but after a couple of hours I actually preferred the pour from the bottle as it had more overt fruit. More mineral and elegant than the Singerriedel which was more flamboyant, but the fruits were riper on this one. The little brother is a great wine in its on right, albeit in a slightly different style.

May 1, 2019 - This needs time, but I was happy to kill this baby anyway. Over the course of three days, it got all kinds of exotic. Light gold color. Nose is bright and salty with mountain stream, minerals, white flowers, ginger, on top of key lime pie and lemon curd. Lovely texture, plump feel on the palate, with crisp, vibrant, tickling acidity, and the balance is on point. Depth of lime, lemon, apricot and guava fruit is impressive, but there's lots of honey, ginger, white tea, almond, mint, not to mention chalk dust and minerals. Gorgeous stuff. Very young. Hold this for years or decant it or just share with friends and give it plenty of air.
