Community Tasting Notes 4

May 27, 2018 - Surprisingly weak performance. Seams to be past its peak. Flowers, white pepper and spices, honey, but no sign of citrus and low acidity together with extremely high alcohol is killing the wine
    not recomended

December 4, 2016 - Over dinner at Kaiserhaus. Pop and poured. Drank over 1.5 hours.
Appearance is clear, pale intensirty, lemon-yellow colour. Legs.
Initially very tight. Only opened up after about 45 mins of air in bottle. On hindsight, should have decanted this.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of yellowish-white flowers, steely stony minerality, honey, hay, citrus lime. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (15% - shockingly high for a white wine!), full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of clean stone minerality, honey, cream, green citrus lime, white grapefruit, straw/hay. Steely but yet rich limey long finish.
Very good quality. Probably just starting to enter into its drinking window. Give this one a good decant to open it up. For me, this lacks the distinctive white pepper/ginger, but does impress with its rich lime and intense clean minerality. Not a wine amateurs would find easy to appreciate though.

September 17, 2015 - Wachau - fine wines from the difficult 2014 vintage, and some other treasures; 9/14/2015-9/18/2015: Explosive scent merges seamlessly with the entry: honey/tropical fruit, some yellow plum, strong acidity, candied pineapple. Very long, resonantly mineral finish. A stunner now, should continue to open up for several years. 92P

May 4, 2013 - Wachau Spring Wine Festival (Wachauer Weinfrühling) (The Wachau): Lime blossom again, but more peppery than the Kollmütz; notably clean, fresh and delicate on the palate, but persistent. Lovely wine. € 24. *****
