October 20, 2021 - Excellent and clearly better than the bottle a year ago. Agree with some of the below comments that this benefits from an extensive decant. (Double) decanted at home for about 2:30h and took to restaurant, where the first small sip on arrival was still a bit tight, so we gave it another hour at the restaurant in the decanter and only then this showed really well. Wonderfully fresh and light on the layered nose, on the palate the typical Graves leafiness, some tobacco and leather is nicely integrated in the fruit already, everything is so nicely balanced. Beautiful wine. Decant for 3h+ to drink now, or hold.

    October 15, 2021 - 48% Merlot 43% Cabernet Sauvignon 9% Cabernet Franc

Medium bricked red color, opaque, compact rim. Still youthful looking.

Aromatics of literally a smoky bomb. Best part of this wine. Unlit tobacco leaves, interestingly some smoked weed scents, sweet charred cedary oak.

Round but still quite tannic. Medium to med plus acidity, dry. Classically ripe cassis and red cherry. Graphite and mineral. Forest floor, smoke filled mouthfeel sensation. Long and sumptuous finish.

Superb wine. Complex yet not excessive. Nimble and elegant. Exude quiet confidence. This is a great wine that does not bow to fad or fashion. Capable of evolving and revealing even more complexity. This is just the beginning of the secondary peak drinkability. The drinking window is wide open. I'd say a 10 year plateau lying ahead. But if you incline to pop one now, leave this in the decanter for at least 2 hours. It needs a lot of time to stretch and come out of its shell. 94+

September 25, 2021 - Decanted 30 minutes. Plums, iodine, light graphite and some thyme on the nose - has a little sois bois as well, showing its age. Palate is smooth, with some gentle tannic grip, light-medium acidity with plum fruits, some lavender stem, graphite and olive - a real savoury, leathery undertone to the wine. A really delightful and engaging wine - plenty of depth and character. This has clearly reached full maturity. Drink now.

September 13, 2021 - Private tasting with friends. One bottle, four wine geeks.
Perfect balance, but needed an hour to find together. Incredible freshness with red and dark fruit - and this cool graphite minerality contradicting the ripe silky tannins totally blowed my mind. This is not just power without weight, it´s the square of the circle.

(Chateau Haut Brion) This had a great nose. Really high-toned with deep spice and tobacco. Gravelly minerality developed after a while. The palate was what I expected out of a '95. Closed awkward and promising but was it? The story of 1995 right now. Another 1970 in the making? Only time will tell....or will it? A paradoxical vintage if there ever was one.
