Community Tasting Notes 7

October 30, 2020 - Lots of iron, earth, meat, and subdued black cherry in the very full-bodied and extracted Beaujolais. Very smooth texture with still some grippy tannins that have yet to completely resolve.

Very atypical for the region and more like a Rhône. It could certainly last another decade in the cellar if you prefer the funky side of the spectrum. If you like some fruit in your wines, drink now -2023.

June 7, 2019 - Lots of black cherry fruit, iron, graphite, and meaty notes. More reminiscent of a Syrah than Gamay. Nonetheless, tasty wine with nice structure, fruit, acid, and mostly integrated tannins. Still life here, drink now through 2022

July 1, 2017 - PNP. cork perfect. color nearly opaque garnet. nose has overripe plum fruit and tobacco that reminds me more of merlot than gamay. some mint and some medicinal reduction. swishing shows mostly tannic structure. a little brusque on the finish. sipping shows some oxidative notes and plums. not my fav tonight. i don't see any upside to waiting on this

August 27, 2015 - PNP. Color dark purplish garnet. Nose dominated by tobacco and plums. Swishing shows formidable acid structure leading into some stemmy/skinny tannin and a tart clipped finish. Sipping allows the fruit density to shine and overcomes the structure with great polish and palate weight. Very nice

October 3, 2014 - dark red fruit aroma. very suave palate. doesn't show the herbal spice of the 2012 basic Brouilly. needs more time to unfurl. concentrate and modest acid on the palate. by reserve, they aren't referring to reserving some acid for this blend. All the same, drinks very smooth. All destemmed, no carbonic.
