Community Tasting Notes 10

February 28, 2021 - Opened yesterday to pair with our "lobster bolognese" course in our winter truffle celebration. This was overshadowed then by the Bollinger VVF, but it is stunning today (with leftovers of the same course). The dish: a base of filini paata, with a mushroom, carrot, shallot, onion, and celery ragout (cooked down with some mushroom and vegetable stock), lobster pieces poached in a truffle infused brown butter, and a black truffle foam. The wine: wow. On the nose: smoked hazelnuts, lemon curd, nettle. On the palate: fantastic acidity, lovely density, loads of wet stony minerality, lemon, soft nuttiness and a tangy nettle spice. Excellent length. Fantastic.

March 12, 2020 - Pop and pour. Pure Perrieres goodness. It took about 30 minutes to open up, but then a lovely hazelnut streak, before a touch of soft reduction/struck match, intense citrus, but so generous. On the palate, lovely acidity, fantastic density: viscous, but light at the same time; mineral oil, lemon, vanilla, hazelnut and smoke. Just a lovely bottle.

March 6, 2020 - La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Eventi Hotel - New York NY): Walk around tasting, in 11/07/95 vertical, all from magnum. Rich and full bodied for the vintage, without the precision of the best examples of Meursault Perrières. Good weight and depth, good overall for near-term enjoyment.

October 25, 2019 - Lacks the distinction of the 2009 and 2010 which we've had in recent weeks. This is nice, subtly oaked chardonnay, with a bit of green streak.

March 2, 2019 - Opened this yesterday (pop and pour), and it was stunning. In the fridge overnight. Key lime, a touch of vanilla, then smoky and stony. Wonderfully fragrant. On the palate, just wow. Excellent acidity, more lime and then pure Meursault smoke and stone. Great texture, and just beautiful. Drinking so well right now, but no rush to drink whatsoever.
