May 12, 2020 - this bottle was absolutely firing tonight. layer after layer with both power and finesse. still some brighter red fruits along with more mature darker fruits and cassis, leather, cigar tobacco, dried meat, dried purple flower, cooked down bell pepper, wet rocks, iron, and scorched earth. open over the next 10 years

March 28, 2020 - Still a nice nose of scorched earth/creosote, charred oak, black currant and mint. The palate is tight, with a great streak of minerality, decent acidity and some black fruits, earth and moderately tannic. Drink now. 92

March 15, 2020 - This is firmly in its drinking window, but still benefits from a few hours in the decanter. It is an excellent wine but hasn't really elevated over the last couple of years. Blackcurrant, plum, earth and tobacco dominate the wine, which has good depth and balance. Likewise the finish is lengthy. However, the tannin is over harsh on the palate and finish. It is a very enjoyable wine displaying secondary and tertiary notes, but is overshadowed by the great left bankers from the year. 94+

January 28, 2020 - Bordeaux from the 80s (Peppercorn's (Hartford, CT)): Deep red in color. A bit closed on the nose. Earth, leather and some cassis. Lovely palate. Youthful, muscular and could use more cellar time.
