  June 1, 2013 - Fairly translucent, medium to pale ruby with just a hint of garnet/ orange at the rim. An amazingly pronounced nose, both floral and spicy. Orange bergamot tea - heavy on the bergamot orange, cinnamon, and a scent that completely reminded me of the flowering dogwoods trees that grew in my childhood back yard. The nose is literally so captivating that I cannot stop inhaling the aroma.
  The medium bodied liquid enters the mouth in a manner that stops short of being silky, it is a little too acidic to be silky, and finishes with long finely grained tannins that both persist and manage to reflect mouth watering juiciness over a far longer period than I would have thought possible. The palate is reflective of the nose, while also being earthier. Sandalwood, orange pith, and just under-ripe cherries mingle with an earthy note that is akin to raw portobello mushroom stems. Over time in the glass the cherry component picks up a bit along with a touch of leather.
  A high acid, medium tannin, lower alcohol (12.5%) affair that is pleasant to drink and food friendly while being interesting enough to enjoy alone.
