March 25, 2023 - This bottle had some slight cork taint but still completely enjyable. Rich creamy citrus and mint on the nose. Very good acidity with ripe white orchard fruit.

December 25, 2021 - A touch of petrol on the nose at first, followed by green apple, white peach, dried minty herbs, and crushed slate with some time in the glass. More stone-fruited on the palate, with a touch of ripe pear and cool slate that persist over a long finish. Juicy and fresh, with great cut from zesty acids providing balance to the wine.

This is just beginning to show some development. I’ll hold another 8-10 years before opening my next bottle.

December 1, 2021 - Great balance, a wonderful searing acidity matches the sweetness and body. Lime peel, kiwi sherbet and stone fruit with a subtle hint of wet stone and a pleasant bitter edge.

    Will certainly cellar well.

April 3, 2021 - Popped and poured because Laura decided last minute she wanted a Riesling. Cellar temp (53F) which was about perfect. Colder left it a bit mute. Sipping on a glass after dinner, and the classic Grunhaus/Abstberg profile is on full display. Yellow peach is splashed with lime juice. There’s a chalky phenolic bite in the mid-palate, and bright finishing acids. The sweetness is at full Spätlese level, but the acidity cuts through it like a Ginzu knife through a tin can and then a tomato! The finish is what really gets me, as there is a dramatic uptick in complexity of flavor, but it keeps changing, faster than I can get a handle on it. Maybe in a few more years it will settle down, or maybe it will get even more kaleidoscopic. Fascinating.

November 3, 2019 - I think this is the best non-dry riesling I've had in a while. Just a beautiful balance of rich, sweet yellow fruit, acids, minerality, and a plush but elegant texture.
