February 25, 2024 - 1 hour slo-ox drank over 2 days. Medium to full bodied, vibrant acidity beautifully balanced with mild dry tannins, sweet black currants, blackberry, cigar, black olives.

September 25, 2023 - First of 3 ($147@) from a recent auction lot. On the nose and palate, vibrant rich and luscious cherries, dark plums with prunish notes, dark berries, earthy herbality, dark, bittersweet chocolate, tobacco leafiness, graphite, pencil shavings and gravel. Dark purple, medium to full bodied, medium legs. Medium acidity and medium- tannins, both fully integrated, no heat, drinking well below its 15% abv. Great persistence, VG+ intensity and complexity. My first red Morlet of any sort after loving a couple vintages of CdCs and liking a couple of PDs after getting outbid in the final moments on more lots than I can count (I was looking to buy back vintages in light of CT notes saying that these cabs needed at least a decade of bottle age). This didn’t disappoint, with a stunning velvety plushness off the pour, but the opulence of the fruit was matched by a deep earthiness and an almost haunting quality, perhaps from a hard to identify red fruit note. I confess I was surprised, though, by how fully mature this wine was, so I recorked it for about 90 minutes prior to my dinner. As the evening wore on and into night #2, the wine did lose just a bit of frame, so that a wine that was a solid 97-98+ with my hopes of it flirting with perfection off the pour became more like a 95 after a couple of hours, losing just a bit of focus, although it held well at that point. With this in mind, perhaps contra to recent TNs, I’d advise holders to drink sooner than later and to monitor aeration ablutions carefully. Great as a cocktail wine, this had just enough stuffing to still star with lamb chops one night, spicy orzo the next. Even with the bit of a fade, I’ll be looking for more Morlet cabs, both this cuvee and others, from good vintages around this price point.

January 28, 2023 - 3 hour decant, drank over two days. Medium to full bodied, earth tone, leather, blackberry, dark cherry, unsmoked cigar, medium smooth tannin. So enjoyable with Leg of lamb.

May 22, 2022 - Same notes as Feb 2022: Drank glass a day over 3 days via Coravin.
A gorgeous fully mature wine with notes of spice and dried herbs, lovely freshness with super ripe tannins, fresh blue fruit, milk chocolate. Soft tannins last half of bottle. 96-97. Lovely.

March 26, 2022 - Flavors of blackberries, mocha, leather with silky smooth tannins. I opened the bottle two hours before dinner
