December 14, 2022 - A survey of Domaine Huet (Chicago, IL): Brown label. In my mind, this bottle may well top the 1989 Constance. This is another in a long string of phenomenal dessert wines made by the estate in 1989, but this rarity really takes the cake because of the way it balances the intensity with lift and lightness. Most of the other 1989 wines impress you by overwhelming you (think Rothko Room at the Tate Modern), but this wine somehow manages to do that, and still stay light on its feet. All the expected botrytis notes are there -- apricot, marmalade, brown spice, etc. That's not the interesting part of this wine. Where this shines is that slight volatility that lifts this over so many other wines of similar intensity and concentration, and while this is definitely very, very sweet, this has a lightness in texture as well. The insane amount of acidity here has to have helped. Without a doubt one of the most successful experimental wines ever made.

May 21, 2016 - Tasted at the Huet Wine tasting /Degustation dinner held at Wohlfahrt's Schwarzwaldstube in Traube Tonbach.
Mahogany colored; Pourriture noble nose, great intensity of smell and taste. One can almost smell individual berries.
Very good acidity/sugar balance, almost like in a good Riesling "TBA". Top marks.
It was served alongside a caramelized apple tartlet in cinnamon foam. With this it went less well; the acidity of the wine and the apples intensified each other to the point of becoming sour.

    October 25, 2014 - Tried at a group tasting:

Medium, bright gold colour. Pronounced intensity on the nose, which shows ripe apricots, lemon-lime, orange-marmalade, honey, some sweet spice, with a stone/slatey undertone. Very complex nose. On the palate, pronounced flavour intensity with medium+ body. Wine is medium sweet. Very zesty and vibrant. Lots of citrus flavours. All of this integrates wonderfully with the wine's very high acidity that leaves a mouthwatering and fresh flavour on the very long finish. Exceptional.

March 14, 2013 - Orange/amber coloured. In the nose, still finer than the 1989 "début de pressée". Dancing around from dark to light. Completely transparent. There's hay, salty caramel, quince with nuts. Fantastic. On the palate, dancing around again, so complex that it's almost impossible to grasp. Expressive sweetness, extreme acidity (12.2 g/l). A complete, perfectly harmonic Chenin Blanc.
