April 9, 2018 - overall a good one with a good complexity in red fruits and some vanilla but some "green" notes on the nose and in the mouth didnĀ“t allow me to give an higher rate

May 7, 2017 - Taste of chocolate and berries. Aged wonderfully. Much better than previous ratings. Very smooth finish.

February 11, 2016 - Tre Bicchieri (San Francisco): 70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino, 15% Colorino. Moderate minus concentration ruby. Savory with subdued dark fruit, huitlacoche, high tannins, and elevated acid. Satisfying - 8.5-9

September 19, 2014 - Brick red color, translucent. Fantastic aromas of cedar, leather and cocoa as well as purple and red fruit - spiced plum? A little orange peel and barnyard on the nose too. Right up my alley. Medium weight, with still plenty of acidity - grit and tannin come through immediately, hints of sour cherry on the finish that lasts through next week. Another stellar wine from this great producer.

August 5, 2014 - Decanted one hour. The Sagrantino shines through here but in a more approchable way than in a 100% Sag bottling. There's rusticity, bold cherry fruit, earth, etc. Rich and full, but not overwhelmingly so. Better with food. A very good example of the style and ready to drink (but will cellar for a few years).
