June 1, 2016 - Thought we’d celebrate the first day of June with dinner outside and some rosé. Except this was not the greatest. It somehow tasted off -- not corked or spoiled, but just not yummy. Maybe it was the pasta (garlic, herbs, hot red pepper, parm) but it just tasted “eh.” It was slightly better on its own, but not by much. Too bad; I bought it this year, but perhaps it’s over the hill.

May 2, 2016 - Deeper pink. Sweet strawberry aromas turn to strawberry and watermelon in the mouth. Weighty, for Rose'. Medium to short in length.

January 27, 2015 - I don't know why I felt like a rosé on a cold winter day. This is a nice wine, user friendly. I prefer a bit more grip, but the typical consumer will enjoy the smoothness and glycerin of this wine. It is not too fruity though, and has sufficient acid and earthiness too almost pull it up. My score is against all wines, for a Tavel rose compared to other roses a higher score is in order.

  • professordoktor Does not like this wine:

August 8, 2014 - Being a fan of rich rosés, I was looking forward to this considering the blend and color. But, it turned out to be way too smoothed out and modernized for my preferences. Palate is primarily strawberry and watermelon with a green pepper inflection, plus way more round, sweet wood than I've ever tasted in an old-world rosé. After the full mouthfeel, finish is oddly abrupt. I get what they're going for here, but it seems to be geared toward those who prefer a more modern, stylized profile.
