March 25, 2022 - This wines red center and tan rims Looked fully mature. The medium intensity nose emanated sautéed cherries, brown sugar, raspberries, and minerals.

In the mouth, this wine was incredibly integrated and rich with rounded tannin and excellent length.

Outstanding now it may even reveal more complexity in 5 years. However, I don't think I would bet on it.

January 17, 2021 - 13 hours upon opening serving into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Flower” day): Pale bricking with orange rims, some fine deposits.

More salt-preserved plums, mature ripe cherries and saline minerality. Great spectrum of fully mature and tertiary notes here

Still very precise with high acidity and minerality. Great structure and integrated. Very persistent finish.

    94-95 points.

1st round with 45 minutes in glass: “sweeter” fruits with more plums and more tannins in a nice way.

2nd to 3rd rounds: consistent notes.

4th round: crazy level of fruits now. Remain at 94-95 points.

October 10, 2019 - A Study of Vigna Rionda (Racines, NYC): The nose was dark, and even a bit murky, showing over-ripe cherry and plum, with earthy minerals and a hint of animal musk. On the palate, I found rich, fleshy textures, giving way to sweet red fruits and tobacco with just the slightest hint of residual tannins. The finish was medium in length and earthy, showing a rush of sweet red fruits, followed by mineral and earth tones. Frankly, many ‘85s seem to be on the decline, and this simply shows as a warm vintage wine that’s slowly losing it’s spunk.

April 23, 2019 - Dark but clean red fruit. Some heat on the nose with air time.
