April 21, 2024 - Wonderfully spiced black fruit, nicely fresh with the firm tannins of a classic Bordeaux vintage. I'm not very good at blind tasting Bordeaux. And while I correctly figured this out as Bordeaux double blind, I incorrectly thought it much younger than 1986 and thought it a blend of Cab Sauv and Merlot. Very good now.

March 30, 2024 - The one with Old Bordeaux (Praelum): From Magnum. Bouquet opened with blood orange, iron, cassis and smoke but this was ambiguous on the palate. Not sure what went wrong here but blinded it was uncharacteristically Pomerol and much less VCC - most of us thought this was the 86 Las Cases, with more St Julien character and the ridiculously backward nature here. It did get better overtime but there was a good 70% of the bottle left when we were done - time to drink up?

March 23, 2024 - Soft dark fruit and coffee. Round and creamy. Really nice.

November 24, 2023 - Smoking good. Fully mature and the wine is singing at the moment. PnP. The nose was intoxicating and the finish was rustic but pure Merlot goodness. Loads of tertiary flavors but it still has great fruit concentration.

May 15, 2023 - Dark red colour, few signs of aging. Nose was a bit funky at opening but stabilized quickly. A typical left-bank nose, fresh and pleasant but with little complexity. Cabernet clearly dominates. Palate is better, medium to high balanced, good structure and balance, more complexity too and a fine acidic tension. The finish is linear. Decent but not the best '86 Pomerol.
