March 8, 2015 - Rich, meaty mouthful, with loud notes of plum, dates, caramel, and dark chocolate. Great pairing with flank steak and tabouli.

January 6, 2015 - On opening this had a lot of of green veggies with leather and a profound mineral streak. After it loosened up a bit the barrel notes began to show with nuts and toffee highlighted by a touch of marine funk, all seamlessly blending into the abstract red fruit. This wine was clearly superior to a 2010 Gramercy Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon and held its own against a 2008 Olsen Estates Merlot. Washington Cab Franc is wholly under-appreciated category. Get some.

November 16, 2014 - Pulled from a cold cellar 2 hours before opening. The nose was tight but notes of patchouli, rubber, alfalfa and barn dust emerged. Vigorous swirling and modest sips over a long dinner elicited flavors of coffee, licorice, figs, dried apricot and cherry tobacco with a faint vanilla finish. Very stout tannins, remarkably balanced.

August 9, 2014 - Oaky nose. Simple stone fruits. Still tannic in finish. Believe it or not, this wine is young. Needs another 2-3 years.

August 9, 2014 - Quality Cab Franc. Do not PnP--definitely needs to breathe before serving. After some air, the lovely fruit flavors come to the fore and the harshness dissipates. A bit heavy on the tannins, which is unusual given this particular winemaker's philosophy. Will cellar well or drink now.

(Tamarack Cellars Cabernet Franc Wahluke Slope) Brings Cabernet Franc’s floral side along with light herbs and cherry. The palate has deliciously pure fruit flavors with the oak dialed back and a velvety feel. 100% Cabernet Franc. Weinbau (91%), Ciel du Cheval, and Tapteil vineyards. Aged in French oak (20% new). 14% alcohol. 1,036 cases produced. (Wine Enthusiast review to be published in upcoming issue).
