Community Tasting Notes 4

January 9, 2015 - Four 2012 Mugniers (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Medium ruby-the deepest color of the 3 reds. Some perfume and game that the others don't possess. Light weight but more ample power and beautiful, expansive inner mouth aromatics which repeat the element of gaminess. Here the fruit is all black and the tannins more firmer. Still, this is pretty suave and civilized for a young Bonnes Mares even with its Morey character. The most striking thing about it was its cling and persistence-extremely long aftertaste for a wine that has such a light attack. At least excellent, but I'm not sure that it's really outstanding in that flesh and sap seem to come up a bit short.

May 16, 2014 - Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Visit and Tasting (Mostly) 2013 and 2012 (Chambolle-Musigny): Tasting at the domaine, this is racked and ready to be bottled week. Red and black cherry aromas and flavors. Starts out very lithe and elegant, picking up weight along the way towards more powerful, structured finish, where spice also gets nicely showcased.

November 15, 2013 - (Fra fat) Dyp, mørk, intens nese med mørke bringebær, solbær, fioler og krydder. Dyp, mørk frukt. Elegant, fast og strukturert med frisk, saftig syre. Nydelig balanse. Mer finmaskede tanniner enn vanlig for denne marken. Lett spice i finish med hint av jordlige aromer. Flott dybde. Svært lang. Mugniers Bonnes Mares skinner virkelig dette året.

July 1, 2013 - Barrel tasting at Domaine, 7/1/13. 2nd time used barrel, mostly done with ML. All red fruit, lots of spice. Lacy and silky textures, great emphasis on elegance and style vs power, but then sneaky long and concentrated finish.
