July 27, 2021 - Almost Amber in color, showing lots of development; amaretto, full-bodied Oloroso sherry with maple syrup and beeswax. This maintains a good deal of bubbles for its age, though the profile has moved to entirely tertiary. When this came up to room temperature, my tasting partner commented on the butterscotch sweetness that was so sharp and vivid. Impressive stuff for mature Champagne. Another bottle would be cool to revisit, actually. Don't serve too cold! White Burgundy-like. 90-91

July 27, 2021 - Picked this up years ago more as a novelty: just a mild ”whoosh" on opening; full gold, nearly amber color; interesting aged nose of crushed almond, candied fruit and just hints of dry sherry; slightly sweet and rich palate but appealing with an underlying maple syrup character. Hard to imagine a greater contrast than 2008 Dom Perignon tasted alongside. Going back to this later, it had an amazing and amusing bouquet of butterscotch hard candy. Like I said, a novelty.
