June 26, 2023 - second bottle of 2 with leakage. Cork completely soaked through. Luckily, remaining sweetness balances well the oxidation/acidity. Well enjoyable. Still, I will be careful in the future with aged Prunottos.

March 2, 2021 - 18 hours upon opening serving into Zalto Burgundy glass (“No” day): Pale garnet to the eyes. Again significantly darker than the others in the lineup, slightly paler than the Oddero.

Good integrated darker cherries and plums. More meaty, rustic. Some hints of mushroom.

Rich on palate. More volumetric but ripe tannins here.

    94 points solid.

Second round, very much darker red (but not as black fruits as Oddero) fruits here. Good volumetric tannins.

September 23, 2020 - Magnum. Top neck fill level. Cork in excellent condition.
Decanted about one hour prior to dinner, which proved to be about right.
Fully developed Barolo in all of its glory: tar, roses, earthy, spicy, layers of complexity. Hue that of an aged Pinot Noir, completely appropriate given age of wine.
The texture is beautiful; just enough tannin to hold everything together and enough fruit for roundness. Only about two hours later does the wine take a leaner, drier character. The timing was just right.
Beautiful traditional winemaking in an excellent vintage.

August 19, 2020 - Perfect fill up to neck, and cork about 4/5 wine stained but can be opened in one whole piece with normal corkscrew. PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass ("Fruit" day): Medium garnet to the eyes, with large chunky deposits at the bottom of bottle.

100ml served into glass without swirling for initial impression: Pronounced truffle, soy, tobacco, savoury white spices, cloves, undergrowth. Fruits are beneath the tertiary aromas per above and more about darker red / black cherries, and has almost chocolate-like notes suggesting ripeness and higher concentration.

I guess judging just from the nose, this is already hard to put under 94 points. This is a nose that I can smell all day, the only issue being that this makes me very hungry immediately...

On palate after around 30 minutes in glass without swirling: High, mouthwatering acidity with some VA detected, but very much well integrated with lots of flavours consistent with nose to support. Good finish without much sense of tannins at this stage (expected to build up over time).

2nd pour, 30 minutes upon opening: Reduction (after 50 years...!) upfront that blew off, more tarry and charred herbs and spices too on nose, then more juicy and higher density fruits, and liquorice on palate. Really nice.

3rd pour, 1 hour upon opening: More complete and well integrated both on nose and palate compared to the 1st and 2nd pour.

4th pour, 2 hours upon opening and around 1/2 left: What became clear at this point is the sheer level of saline minerality that sets this apart.

5th and 6th pours at 9 hours in and 12 hours in respectively: Consistent notes per above. Enjoy now and retain at 94 points.

July 20, 2020 - Asparagus gang at Maison Dakota. Drank in Grassl Cru.
Appearance pale intensity, garnet colour. Occasional fine sediment. Legs.
Nose medium intensity, with aromas of earth, soy, old leather, old plums. Developed.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol, completely melted tannins, medium body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of old leather, earth, soy, old plums. Medium+ finish.
Very good quality. Not oxidative yet. Silky mouth-feel with mainly tertiary elements and the old plum fruit hanging on. Drink up and enjoy.
