    December 24, 2021 - (From Magnum)

Faded garnet in color. Sour cherry, hints of over-dried/stale tobacco, cowhide, and spice-box. I don't know the usual, but I'm surprised to hear this was a warm vintage as concentration and alcohol were relatively low—perhaps just the more rustic old-world style. Tannins were relatively mellow for the varietal — must be the course of time.

It held (and was friendly with meat sauce) but nothing too remarkable.

December 19, 2020 - Bright garnet color, fairly dense. Intense and ripe red fruit, bit of leather, touch of spice and dried leaves. Full body, shows all the hallmarks of a warm vintage, but leaves me wanting more complexity on the palate. Long finish. Drink now.

June 1, 2012 - Everyone really liked this. Still good fruit and acidity.

February 1, 2012 - The ever-changing nose showed crushed fall leaves, herbal tea, brown sugar, musk, and strawberry jam. On the palate, it was velvety with sweet dark red fruits, a hint of vanilla and dark wood tones with fresh acidity keeping it exciting. The finish showed clean, sour red fruits.

February 2, 2011 - I've been down on '97 Tuscans for a while now and actually thought I had sold all that I had- I ran across this in the cellar and decided to try it- really glad I did- it is a terrific sangiovese- dusty, ripe cherry fruit, some tobacco and rosemary. much better than I expected.
