November 8, 2023 - Pale ruby red color with bricking at rim, age appropriate. Very complex, autumnal nose of decaying leaves, earth, raspberry, cranberry, cherry, and anise. The flavor profile was well aged with cherry, raspberry, and cranberry fruit supported by cocoa and earthy undertones. While medium bodied, it did not seem overdone because of its balanced acidity and velvety mouthfeel. Overall, this wine was quite complex, and while I feared it might be past it’s time, my fears were unfounded. It is clearly older, based on the nose and flavor profile, but it was not faded and could make it to its 15th birthday before beginning its downward slope.

May 13, 2023 - Family Blind Pinot Noir Tasting (The homestead): From a family blind tasting, Pinot from anywhere - guess origin, vintage, price.

    Wine #6 of 8.

This was my 2nd contribution. Unfortunately, this did not show very well. It just tasted "faded", with no depth of fruit at all. I vacuum sealed it and tried it again the next evening and it was the same or maybe even worse. Didn't taste off at all, just past peak and on the downhill side.
This was near the bottom on everyone's rankings. Took home the bottle, vacuum sealed, and tried the next day over a couple of hours, and it was no better, maybe even worse. Based on this bottle, drink up.

July 17, 2021 - I have been keeping my hands of the Sandler Boer pinots as I recall Mr Kurtzman indicating this is made in a style to age. A bottle of the 2013 opened shortly after release was pleasant but unexciting. The wait was certainly worth it. With this bottle, the sweet California fruit has morphed into a wine that is more earthy and savory. Nice balance, a bit contemplative, more subtle than in-your-face. This is in quite a good place right now. While not particularly structured, I think this has the acidity to go longer, at least through the mid-term. I may hold some to see how it does beyond that. I wish I'd bought more. 91-92 pts

April 10, 2020 - Nose: high toned fruits, white pepper, Asian spices

Palate: lush, fruity, tastes of raspberries, blueberry notes, pomegranate . Nice acidity on the mid palate. Finishes a touch on the sweet side with Asian / teriyaki spice. Lacks some depth and structure to hold up against all the fruit.
