January 27, 2024 - Same as it ever was. Dark color, nice (but not complex) nose, big time black and blue fruits, rich, great finish, yummy. A year and a half ago, I thought this was peaking and about to head downhill. It's still at that peak, and i'm beginning to think it will outive me.

May 6, 2023 - Identical to a bottle I opened exactly one year ago, except last year, I thought its days were numbered. Now, I'm thinking it has years to go. Pride cabernet on steroids.

May 6, 2022 - Took to a party, so no detailed notes. Pretty much what I had expected: extremely rich, solid finish, dark fruit, baking spices and a healthy dose of chocolate. Tannins were moderate at most - doesn't need decanting and probably should be consumed within the next year oe so.

March 25, 2022 - While this is a wine that seems to have received mixed reviews in the last decade - too tannic … not tannic enough, etc. — it seems to be at an excellent spot now in early 2022. Full bodied, it pours almost black. The nose is pure dark fruits. With the taste of deliciousness, pure Cabernet/cassis - I think this probably is approaching its plateau of maturity. Perhaps this bottle has been stored exceptionally well (I bought it at auction recently), but this shows only a hint or two of secondary flavors, telling me this has many years of great drinking ahead.

July 5, 2018 - Revisited another one of these, thanks to my friend, Lori. She said she opened it about 8 hours prior to us drinking it, with simply a slox ox. When I tasted the first glass, it had the same vanilla bean oak signature as the bottle a year ago so I am not sure how that will fade out with time given that this is 7 years almost post vintage. But, that oak imprint does marry well with the fruit and also the SR style so it still works for me. As the wine aired more, what begins to come forth is the acidity and energy of the 2011 vintage. What it does for me is cut what is often a bigger wine in SR and temper it, giving the wine a rounding out. I really like this vintage of SR a lot and the wine continues to drink great, with no shortage of fruit, intensity and flavor.
