April 19, 2024 - This is liquid earth. Berries intermeshed with gravel and dusty leaves. Polish. Dark as the night. Clean finish that goes on and on. An underlying hint of black olives that never fully emerges. Delicious!

March 27, 2024 - Very rich and in the classic Baron style. Very good. Round, Plum, Blackberry, Earth, Leather, Smoke, Tobacco, Oak. Great nose, palate, mouthfeel, and Finish. Also agree with Ex-Ray… ditto his comments. Thanks Christophe! Glad you aren’t in Champagne.

March 17, 2024 - Heater week; 3/8/2024-3/17/2024 (Chicago, IL): The alcohol sticks out here, relative to many of the other preceding wines. Almost overly dirty and funky, with too much barnyard. Some spice notes, but the fruit has gone AWOL.

March 17, 2024 - Ninth time tasted since 2019. One of their best Cailloux vintages, fully mature but getting even better! Dark garnet, opaque. Immediate very pronounced typical Cayuse syrah aroma of smoke, tar, roasted meat, French oak, plums, blackberries. Big, rich flavors to match, full-bodied but perfectly well balanced, not at all heavy; some anise on late palate. No significant tannin in the way of the fruit. Slight bitterness when first opened, blew off after a couple of hours. Outstanding now, a perfect example of a Christophe Baron syrah, should easily hold another 5 years.

December 14, 2023 - This wine disappeared at our holiday party in face of strong competition from top end producers. Rich and elegant at the same time, perfect pairing with a meaty chili and cornbread, but wonderful on its own. Splashed decanted then 3 hours open back in the bottle. Super pumped to have more.
