September 21, 2022 - Strong Chilean terroir markers enhance a Cabernet Sauvignon-driven experience. In an overt style, with evident Left Bank Bordeaux roots. Appealing blend, moderate oak treatment, juicy, stalwart tannins. Much to like.

There is a downside: Alcohol. Prominent on the nose, and it presents as a high, low, and long burn on the palate. Indeed, the listed 15 abv seems higher. Rich foods help tame the flames, to an extent.

No rush, but further improvement seems unlikely, particularly given the heat.

December 30, 2021 - Showing very well with more jalapeño and green pepper notes but still rich, decadent and layered dark fruit, resolved tannins on lingering finish.

December 1, 2021 - Superb full bodied red; probably can still do with another 5 years in the bottle. After about 2 hours of decanting the wine really opened up. Excellent sample!

March 4, 2021 - Bordeaux Blends Smackdown (Zoom): Decanted 3 hours, drank double blind. This wine had a chocolate and blue fruit streak that made me think it was a Caymus Special Selection. I was shocked when the wine was revealed. It was still a quality wine but obviously the odd man out in this lineup.

March 4, 2021 - Virtual Double Blind Bordeaux Blend Smackdown (Home): Very dark purple/red hue. Aerated and decanted for 3 hours and poured into vessels for transport at 4:30pm. Very green and youthfully robust tonight, pretty spicy and the tannins are grippy. Much better about 48 hours later. Ripe fruits, blackcherry, plum, far more subtle herbaceous notes that offer nuance instead of dominance along with strong wood spices. The palate now shows the succulent fruits; dark cherry, tart black currants, plum, strong pepper and spice notes, herbal and twiggy, a deeper slightly more kirsch like character and a sense of body and glycerin without being overtly hot. Enjoyable now, but tough that first night. Of course it was by far the outlier of the group and the youngest wine by far. Score reserved, impression is 89pts on day 3, but I think this just needs more time. Rank 6th.
