    November 24, 2022 - Out of a 5L for Thanksgiving dinner!

Decanted straight to glass. First pour in the glass…comforting walnut!

1.5 hours in….lemon grass up front, but then…wowza…a lovely, subtle Thai chili!

January 8, 2018 - Processed through an aerator and consumed over the next hour. Very pleasantly surprised by this wine. Had low expectations given the modest pedigree. But this wine was drinking very nicely, with still vibrant, if slightly fading, fruit. Great full color with no little to no visible aging coloration. No great hurry to drink this, but it is not likely to get any better. Drink soon.

February 28, 2017 - The same basic profile as the bottle over this past weekend, but without any hint of cork taint. Nice translucent medium dark garnet color and just a tinge of brick on the edge, with the same brambly, plummy, spicy and earthy nose. Flavors seem a good deal richer with vanilla, clove, cranberry, plum, green pepper and licorice. The finish is smooth and long with some chocolate and eucalyptus. This is what the wine should be at almost 20 years old. Probably as good a bottle as one could hope for from this $25 wine.

February 25, 2017 - Decanted at 5pm and consumed through about 10pm. Medium to dark slightly translucent garnet colored with only a hint of bricking. Nose has brambly mushroom, eucalyptus and tarry black plum aromas while the flavor profile is ripe black plum, mocha and herbal minty notes. Chewy mouth feel with a modest tannic backbone. Better after 3 hours in the decanter. Moderately long finish. I can't decide for sure but there may be some slight TCA present here as the finish is consistently a little musty. Not enough to ruin the wine but I think there is a little there.
