Community Tasting Notes 1

September 17, 2013 - Solid, intact cork, about two-thirds stained. A label over the cap reads "JOHN LARMAN". The back bears a barcode sticker headed "DAN MURPHY'S CELLAR" stuck over a similar label (perhaps the second label was applied when the wine was discounted).

Highly advanced nose: green capsicum, bay leaf and parsley stalks. There seems to be some heavy black and red cherry underneath the more aromatic green notes. The palate is thin, dominated by strong acid. There are hardy flavours of red cherry and blackcberry, with the acid contributing a lime-like twist. After a few hours, the acid recedes and the blackerry flavour takes over.

This what not what I expected from this wine, at this age. It's somewhat thin and green, but there are no hints of decay on the nose or palate: no dust, no rotting paper, no mushroom, no cheesy fungus. Just fruit. Remarkable.
