  January 13, 2023 - Second to the last of a case, and the first I'm noting (bought as a quaffer not to think about). I just had the 2011 Seven Springs La Source a few nights ago and found it far more mature than expected, so decided to crack into one of these, which is my first one in four years. Surprisingly, this presents as far more youthful than the '11 La Source. There is no darkening of color, nor all of the deep rotting forest floor of the La Source. Here, the nose expresses brighter fruit tones, including deep dark raspberry, briar, a dried up pine cone, and overall a very nice earthy, soily completion, though none of those decaying earth notes. Palate is soft and light, with hardly any tannins or acid to speak of. The texture is nice, soft and round, with just the lightest bits of sweet pump raspberries and briar present. Perhaps some licorice note as well... holds in the mouth indefinitely due to the recessed structure at this point, though after a minute acid does come on. That acid carries into the finish once you've held it in the mouth for so long. Here, the fruit completion is nearly candied. Really bright, red toned, and pretty. Seriously sweet stuff. Reminds me of the elementary school fair. Very surprisingly, I actually enjoy this more than the La Source. I'll have to crack another La Source soon, as perhaps I had a more advanced bottle than it should be, because this regular Seven Springs Vineyard doesn't taste too advanced at all. Quite the contrary, I suspect this is drinking at peak. Really delicious, soft, round juice here. Quite a surprise, honestly.

  February 8, 2022 - Drinking very well at the moment. Nice balance, light/medium body, medium finish. Fruit flavors are slightly muted, but it should hold up for another year.
