April 25, 2021 - Drikkeklar uden nogen træthedstegn. God koncentration kombineret med elegance og balance. Dejlig.

April 6, 2021 - The nose seems a touch restrained, but due to the changing nature of the aromas to deeper earthy tones and the rich fruits gently subsiding. This is not a heavy handed wine (producer), but the normal elegance and subtlety from them perhaps hard to achieve in such an irregular, but overall warm vintage. The acidity gently nudges the sexy fruit forward, rather than acting as the bones and all this between a firm frame of fine tannins.

The fruit shows a scant red, but primarily black and even blue (my first for Nebbiolo) theme and are luscious, if yet not slutty and w/o definition. Aside from the fruit, familiar bass tones of rich forest floor, palo santo, potpourri, and composted roses are the relatively similar (earth and spice) non-fruit realms. Obvi. depending on what you like, but I feel the wheels come off when the acid is softened enough that it doesn't drive the cart of yet generous fruit, as the tannins will be sentinels until the end. I'd be game for this at least another 5-10 years, but do enjoy the academics of wine even further down the road.

~45 y.o. vines from 0.5 ha; 40 day maceration; 36 months in Slavonian oak; ~300 cases made annually

  • Steve Greenhouse Likes this wine:

May 9, 2019 - Bel barolo di stile classico, già dal colore rosso scarico con unghia granata, al naso tipico di rosa, funghi e cuoio, alla bocca piena e rotonda. Tannino sciolto ma un pelo ruvido.

    September 6, 2015 - Flawed bottle.

July 25, 2015 - Expressive on the nose, a bit earthy, not as much rose petal on this one. Medium plus body, high tannin, chewy. Intense ripe red berries. Great concentration.

    With Rory and Gwen.
