June 12, 2022 - Cabernet (and blends) celebration (Ben and Estella's place, Parramatta): Served blind.
Ripe, Ribena, backed by a little sweet spice, blackcurrant, very slightly herbaceous underpin, polished oak, a little farty note. Nice nose. Juicy, fleshy, rich, ripe, blackberry and blackcurrant, a little plum. Tannins are tight but controlled, alcohol warmth on the finish is not intrusive. Lovely.

August 10, 2019 - Lacks depth and flavor

  • Makani Does not like this wine:

January 18, 2016 - Cèdre et menthol au nez avec des notes d'élevage. En bouche, le fût gâche le vin, c'est vanille et tannin le tout dans l'inélégance et le déséquilibre, dommage, on sent un potentiel de fruit sous-jacent.

September 6, 2015 - Appearance: Bright and clear, it has deep ruby color, with fading rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of black fruit such as blackcurrant and blackberry, pungent spice of licorice, herbaceous notes of blackcurrant leaf, herbal notes of eucalyptus, oak notes of toast and vanilla, kernel notes of chocolate. The wine is youthful.
Palate: Dry with medium (+) acidity, medium (+) tannin of ripe and integrated on texture, with medium alcohol and medium body, with medium intensity flavors of black fruit such as blackcurrant and blackberry, oak notes of vanilla, kernel notes of chocolate, pungent spice of licorice. The wine has a medium finish.
Conclusion: Good quality Australian Cabernet Sauvignon showing nice varietal characters on the nose, with good intensity and complexity, the wine has a robust structure, demonstrating nice tannin of integrated texture and nice acidity, with a reasonably concentrated palate of flavors though still fairly youthful, with decent length on the finish. It is a bit too young to drink now, and would benefit from further ageing of another 2-3 years.

April 18, 2015 - Hints of vanilla on the nose. A very smooth and refined wine from Coonawarra.
