  January 10, 2021 - At first, very heavy in mushroom and earthy aroma. Opened up into ripe fruit and more earthiness. Healthy amount of quality tannin. Lower in acidity than I prefer. Considering I payed $20, I count this as a win.

  February 26, 2017 - Took a bit of time to open, slow ox for 90 minutes, then carafed it. At first, wrapped up in tannin, closed on the nose. Two hours on, started to improve, displaying aromas of plums, tar and licorice. Strawberries and a bit of soy on the palate. After four hours, it started to go down the hill. Wine seems to lack a bit of freshness. There is clearly an imbalance of excessive alcohol and a slight lack of acidity. Was paired to roast lamb and roast veg, made the wine easier as this would have been fairly unpleasant without food.

  September 4, 2014 - (Tasted at Berry Bros Italian Tour 2014): a subdued nose. Moderate fruit with an almost dull/stale liquorice scent. Feels closed down, with a lot of heat and alcohol.
