June 2, 2023 - Pnp. Upon opening a stinky barnyard nose that somehow pleases me. Lots of iron and blood flavors mixed with tobacco leafs and a sweetish cocoa bean-chocolate mix. Quite intriguing nose, to go short. Good concentration and stuffing with melted tannins and a sweetish, funky mid palate. Reminiscent of right bank Bordeaux but then again quite different. Just love it because of its idiosyncrasies. One more bottle left of this vintage.

March 12, 2022 - Delicious for the price. Some funk and leather, drinking very nicely right now.

September 17, 2021 - Consistent with previous note. Very fruit forward and aromatic. Slight bitterness on aftertaste. Funky wine. In a perfect spot right now and will provide drinking pleasure for the next five years, I’m sure. Not one of the usual suspects!

September 16, 2021 - Deep ruby color. Aromatic nose of fresh hickory smoke, red licorice, pencil shavings, black fruit. Palate matches the nose with smokiness mingled with dark red and black fruit on the front, a bit of acidity on the middle and end, and a smoky finish. Acidity is medium plus, tannins are medium light and slightly coarse.
This is a nice, powerful, and rich wine that is driven by a smoke-centric profile with black and red fruits rounding out the palate. I don't know much about this winery or why the wine is so smoky, but it's an unusual wine (this is my second bottle of this vintage and both were consistent). It doesn't have the vanilla notes that I think of being associated with barrel toasting, it's more like pure campfire smoke. I enjoyed it, but you have to be ok with an aggressively overpowering wine to like this. 90-91 -

September 5, 2021 - This wine is deep ruby in hue with more garnet color developing towards rim. It is very aromatic and its aromas include blackberry, cigar box, and meat. On the palate, it is more fruit forward with black and red fruits really coming out. It is dry with low-medium acidity, medium body, medium tannins, a plush mouthfeel, and a nice medium finish. It is drinking very well for 11 years old and is an incredible QPR ($22). Excellent!
