Community Tasting Notes 13

December 26, 2018 - I loved this wine and wish I had bought more. An intoxicating nose of black and red fruits, followed by the taste of blackberry, black fruit, red fruits, leather, herbs and maybe a touch of mocha. It was great with Gloria’s meatballs, but it needed nothing but a glass to show well.

Hard to tell it was almost 18 years old.

These were $20 on sale and I should have bought all of them and not just one!

Drink now or hold - but not much improvement is likely

December 22, 2018 - Still showing signs of significant structure and vibrant fruit. Likely at peak but can hold for a few years.

December 28, 2016 - I enjoyed this wine much more than previous bottle of same from a couple years ago. It is a mature wine with the tannins smoothed out and balanced. Lots of earthy terrior. Enjoyed it more as it sat open.

February 28, 2016 - Consistent with recent notes. Very well made new world style cab. Still has ample life left.

December 7, 2015 - Squarely in its sweet spot. Full bodied and jammy with loads of dark red cherry and blueberry, but balance with plenty of coffee, chocolate and leather. The profile is true to Italian red and seems to be a blend with a substantial amount of Sangiovese. The nose was nice, but a little shy. The texture on the palette was outstanding with an opulent feel coupled with heavy grip and cleansing acidity. Powerful, sustained finish framed by cherry and cocoa nib. Outstanding bottle.
