March 21, 2020 - Admittedly, I let this bottle sit a little too long. I purchased it in 2013 when I was still part of the Talbott Wine Club and had just moved from the Monterey area. I always liked Talbott wines, andtheir Diamond T vineyard is by far their best; both the pinot noir and chardonnay it produces are superb. So I had hard time saying goodbye to this wine and it lingered in my cellar for some time... Perhaps a little too long.
But when I opened it today I was pleasantly surprised: it's still delightful! Deep gold color. Oak and honey apparent on the nose. Very smooth, creamy texture that surrounds your tongue with velvet before moderate acidity hits a few seconds later. The flavor is a little heavy on the oak, which imparts quite a bit of butterscotch, but this subsides quickly and is replaced by pear, honey and mineral notes. Not bad at all! Quite enjoyable on its own, though its acidity would make it quite nice with Chicken Piccata. -

December 31, 2017 - A little more oaky and buttery than previous bottles seemed. appeared a little out of balance. Much prefer the less expensive Sleepy Hollow Vineyard.

July 2, 2017 - Medium golden yellow color with a nose that is layered with smokey, toasty oak, lemon curd and grilled peach. Better integrated oak on the palate than the last bottle. Creamy, lemon/citrus, peach and a long mineral finish with some tart acid that gives a pretty long finish.

January 15, 2017 - Six courses on short notice with some great football: Similar to the last bottle this was more oaky than I remembered, more modern Cali if you will. I found the acidity a little low and the oak a bit overpowering with lots of butterscotch, citrus and some burnt toast on the finish. Some minerality but not much. Served mostly as an aperitif but also drunk with the pheasant.

January 14, 2017 - Bottle with screwcap... the color is medium golden yellow. The nose has some toasty nuttiness, brown butter and lemon curd. It seems slightly oxidized or off in some way. Flavors of hazelnut, lemon curd, butter and a flinty smokiness on the finish. Low to moderate acidity but a long finish. In had this wine at the winery in 2013 and thoroughly enjoyed it, but this bottle seems very tired and "burnt and muddied".
