June 6, 2023 - Given how hot the vintage was, this remains decently balanced and is aging well. I am personally planning on drinking my remaining bottles over the next 3-5 years, but I guess it's possible that the wine will last longer than that.

March 17, 2023 - As one might expect given the vintage, you get a blast of super ripe black & red fruit on the nose - not pruney, but quite ripe.

Despite that, there is still adequate acidity on the palate to give the wine some lift/energy. 2009 is not the kind of vintage in Piemonte that I usually like, but this is decent. There is a drying edge on the finish, but no signs of any impending decline, so I would call this drink or hold, although I don't see any future upside.

October 25, 2022 - 2 hour decant, minimum. Pale-medium ruby/garnet. Orange and garnet rim. Medium+ tearing. Bright, fresh, ripe cherry and raspberry. Earth, spice and pepper notes. Soil, clay. Savory spices. Animal fat, bacon. Rose and violet. Some oak/oxidative notes. Smells "old world" and "dusty." On the palate, ripe and tart red fruit, cherries. Floral notes are strong. Earth is present but subtle. Oak is not noticeable. Overall, very well balanced. Tannin has softened after being open for 2 hrs. Acid is refreshing. Finish is long and complex. Could age but why? Enjoy it now.

November 1, 2020 - Lunch at Popina. This is terrific, and very open with mostly resolved tannins. A touch of heat on the finish, and not quite the complexity of the Rocche (on the nose) or the Villero (on the mid palate), but a terrific wine for the weak sister of the Brovia Castiglione Falletto crus.

October 1, 2020 - This wine has a lot going for it, nice color, good nose and taste components, good finish, but the pieces don't add up to a whole, with some fruit and spice components pulling in different directions. Still fresh and vigorous, could age a while, but I'm not sure its structure will mature that well. It's not that great now, so I'd guess to try again in 5 years. If you have only one bottle wait, another 7 to 10 years and hope for the best.
