January 14, 2016 - Very different wine tastes almost like a candy. It was interesting to try but I am not sure it's regular drinker for me.

November 20, 2014 - Third Thursday blind tasting group - Mourvedre's (Mike's) (11/20/2014): There's a bit more complexity here than in the Santa Barbara Highlands Mourvedre, which seemed a bit one-note - there's a more complex red and dark fruited core of flavours here with a slightly funky, earthy tinge, but it also has a strong carbonic character that makes it taste more like a natural carbonic/low sulfur wine than anything with a sense of variety or place.

November 20, 2014 - Mourvedre (TTTG blind tasting): Light ruby color. On open, slightly less pronounced nose than the SBH. Richer and a little more structured, but also perhaps a bit less interesting than the D&R SBH. Velvety mouthfeel. Richer/darker red fruit, spice, slight savory notes. Very nice mouthfeel. This seemed like it had greater depth, but less interest than the SBH. In terms of general attitude of the tasting group, the bottle was nearly full at the end. Pretty, but non-descript.
One day update: The nose is beginning deliver; very pretty red cherry and herbs. This comes across almost Chambolle-like, though lighter and less structured. I am enjoying this a lot more the next day, but would never have guessed Mourvedre. -

September 4, 2014 - Cloudy but slightly transparent ruby red with bricked edges. Earthy dried fruit nose. Juicy, light bodied, tangy, round mouth with strawberry hard candy, peppery spice and chewy tannins. Fun drank.

March 21, 2014 - All earth and rocks and a touch of rhubard; strikingly lightweight for the flavor profile. Didn't budge much over a couple hours in the decanter - maybe a few more hints of fruit peeking around the edges. But then again, this is a wine that is clearly not about fruit. A little over-matched by a rib-eye; I think a roast chicken would be about right. Curious to see what this does in a couple years. Yum.
