Community Tasting Notes 4

  • SuitePhoto Does not like this wine:

August 12, 2014 - The oddest red wine experience I can remember. Overwhelming, almost painful acidity – with a background of decayed fruit. I typically expect acid to keep a wine fresh over any other structure element – not so in this case. This wine had to be absolutely painful to drink in its youth.

April 6, 2009 - Such a strange and interesting wine. The fruit is slight, and there's great funk, grilled meats, savory aromas, herbs, etc. - i.e., lots of wonderfully desirable stuff going on -- but man is the wine acidic and very, very tart. The experience is pronouncedly physical, with the warm acidic glow almost burning on down the esophagus. Gilman (and M. Texier) think it's a sleeping beauty that just needs more time, but I just don't know if the megalithic acidity will ever calm down.

December 13, 2007 - I like the high acid the first glass, but after that, I realize how tart this wine is.

March 1, 2007 - Bright purplish ruby, aromas of minerals, charred earth, high-toned cherry & red fruit, b3, a4, t2, silky, tart & tangy, a bit too firm & bitter on finish
