October 20, 2016 - 90++. Very dark. Varietal aromas of ink, red and black fruit macerated in alcohol, humus, kirsch, a hint of spice. Vigorous, masculine acidity on the palate, supporting a great depth of fruit preserved in spirit - blackberries and plum - together with earthy notes and hint of oak. Quite easy drinking despite the 15.5 per cent alcohol. Long, very vinous finish. Certainly a modern interpretation of Barbera, from one of the best producers of that varietal in a cru vineyard. The influence of the terroir remains quite distinctive, despite the use of oak. High levels of acidity call for food, and presage quite a good future for this bottle. I would cellar for another decade or so to observe its evolution.

May 20, 2014 - Last minute Italian Regional Night (Extra Space): Tasted blind.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with initial alcoholic fumes blowing off after a while to reveal aromas of sweet red fruit and licorice. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol, medium+ tannins, full body. Pronounced flavor intensity, with flavours of sweet raspberry, cranberries, cherries, licorice, and spice. Long finish.
Outstanding quality Barbera from Braida. Can drink now with prolonged decant, but why waste? Let this baby rest for another 6-8 years.
