September 4, 2021 - Smooth and balanced (for the style) at ten years of age this is hitting its stride, with the alcohol and oak in balance. Excellent QPR.

January 28, 2021 - The wine (L 35-141113-T43 INV-B-72564) has mellowed a bit since my last bottle 13 months ago. It remains a highly extracted, New World style wine, but this bottle recaptured a bit of the smoothness and balance that previouos bottles of this vintage had shown when younger. Still young-ish and fresh (for the style), it has many more years ahead of it. Not my preferred style of wine, but a crowd-pleaser and an excellent QPR.

January 16, 2021 - Deep, opaque red colour, almost black. 4 hours after decanting, the wine showed excellent, ‘sweet’ dark black and red fruits - dark plums, damsons, dark cherries later (eclipsing early tastes of blueberries). Complex layers of flavour developed together with spice. The nose opened quite slowly but was showing really well after another hour of two (6h).
Superb with food (grilled venison steaks) and after the food. The tannins were soft but leathery when first tasted but with food they softened and were a perfect complement. Early oaky flavours developed into fine vanilla flavours and gave a superb ‘luxury’ mouthfeel.
Overall, this is a fine wine with a future. Just avoid judging it when first opened and do have it with food and give it time.
I wish we had more of this vintage. On to the 2012s.

December 12, 2020 - 1/1 of this one. Opaque black coloring with ruby at the very edges. Aromas of black fruit, plums, crushed rocks, and graphite. Medium body, acid, and finish, with forward notes following suit. 87-88

December 23, 2019 - When I want a hit of Argentinian extraction I often turn to Siete. I've bought it every year since the first vintage almost two decades ago and will continue to do so, and I always keep older vintages in the cellar to see how they evolve. Unfortunately, time has not been kind to the 2011. It has gotten too jammy since my last bottle in 2015 and I've dropped my rating significantly; it has lost freshness and complexity, and sweetness and size now predominate. This wine is so big now that it cannot accompany most meals; it needs either to be consumed on its own with nibbles, or with a big meal such as BBQ or grilled beef.
