Community Tasting Notes 4

November 29, 2017 - 4 Delicious and profound aromas of spiced cherry, black tea, and dried fall leaves. The palate maintains elegance and holds the 14.1 abv very well. A touch of cola comes through on the palate. Very enjoyable Shea bottling.

May 18, 2015 - Dark crimson in color, this wine shows black fruits of wild cherry, blackberry and black raspberry on the nose. The mouth feel is fuller bodied than expected with hints of forest floor, mushroom and supple acidity. The finish is firm but almost completely shut down and hid the black fruits from emerging.

Purchased for $50US, this was opened way too young. There's some underlying complexity here but I could not coax it out, even with a 2+ hour decant and another 2+ hours in the bottle. Needs time. Recommended to drink 2017-2025.

April 22, 2015 - Nose shows easy red cherry, dark cherry, pretty rose petals, dried pomegranate, restrained and elegant. Palate is very well balanced, hits all the right parts, acidity, fruit lingers through, finish medium plus and changes from cherry to light earth in a Burgundian way. This is not for CA style drinkers, definitely a house style that Raptor Ridge has trending towards Burgundian. Excellent example of type.

    Under 400 cases made.

January 6, 2014 - Obviously very young but already enjoyable. A little less muscular than some previous vintages, with nice cherry fruit and a hint of cola on the palate along with some spices that develop on the midpalate. Plenty of acid gives the wine a fresh taste.
