February 18, 2024 - From 375ml. Cork was completely saturated, but came out intact with a Durand. Translucent light ruby in the glass. Fruit and raisin notes. Paired well with molten lava cake.

February 11, 2024 - Good Wine with an Exciting Super Bowl (The Krengels - Bannockburn IL): Walkaround tasting. Softened sweetness, good brightness, surprisingly lighter than expected. Always going to have bottle variation at this age, but this didn't quite meet expectations.

January 12, 2024 - Cherry liquor, earth, liquorice and sarsaparilla root. Still quite structured but retains its vanillan sweetness. A joy.

December 28, 2023 - 375 ml bottle was at mid shoulder, cork was seriously degraded with obvious leakage. Color is a light orange tawny. The nose is all tertiary, mature cherry, light florals, dried cranberry, walnuts. Would have liked a bit more. On the palate, a beautiful sweetness. Some red fruit still left, but more powerful notes of walnut liqueur, dried prunes, raspberry syrup. A relatively short finish and a bit thin. This was very pleasant, especially given the fill level and half bottle size. A bit over the hill I think, likely better from a 750 ml.

December 25, 2023 - Deep plum color, clear at the rim. Fruit still kicking. More stewed prunes than I expected from Dow’s, and less of the classic nutty flavors that marks the house for me. For this vintage (from memory), I prefer Warre’s.
