February 12, 2017 - Deep opaque purple in the glass, aromatic nose of dried dark fruits, palate is alive with fruit starting with ripe boysenberry, black currant, coffee and a hint of anise, leading to dried berries mid palate and a long finish that has notes of a eucalyptus freshness.

Looking back at notes from the 2010 this is night and day different. Likely the result of a few more year in the bottle to mellow the 'funk' that others have mentioned as well.

October 11, 2014 - Something wrong with this bottle. Very flat with no brightness or character. Hopefully just corked.

June 5, 2014 - Rhone Rangers DC tasting June 4, 2014. Raucous, brash Syrah, big attractive funky nose, not for everyone, but once past the wild herbs and, frankly, roadkill, a wonderful romantic Thomas Cole vista of new and old worlds conflated, full of succulent fruit and wildflowers and waterfalls of abundant flavor. Good length. One of the better wines at the show.

June 4, 2014 - Rhone Rangers DC (Longview Gallery - Washington, DC): Aromas: Smoke, earth, mushroom on top of raspberries and strawberries. Silky, smooth but still structured. Bold cherry, dark plums, mixing with eucalyptus, charcoal and chestnut notes. Long, pure, velvety. Very impressive stuff, showing boldness but the sleekness of the 2011 vintage.

April 19, 2014 - Tasting room- Deep, black-ruby color. Full aromas of meat, mesquite smoke, herbs, spice and black cherry. Medium plus acid and sharp grainy tannins with some polish. Herbal dark fruits on the palate with moderate savory spice and hints of cedar. Medium finish. Nicely done.
