April 11, 2024 - This truly was spectacular. Tonight, I hosted my guys' wine night, and for dessert, I served this Port with chocolate cake and chocolate ice cream. This wine was off the charts fantastic. Truly an unbelievable treat. The wine was fresh, rich, complex, with fantastic fruit. None of us could believe that this was a 61-year-old wine. Truly one of the best Ports of my entire life. Wow!!! Epic!!! Great fruit!! Great complexity. We all were in awe!!
February 24, 2024 - MAGNUM Vintage Port (CUT restaurant Beverly Hills): Out of magnum, number 5:in the flight. Very good, deep, enamoring on the palate, fruitier than the others, sweet palate and finish.
December 28, 2023 - A generous present from a friend, to share at Christmas dinner (and, as it turned out, the two subsequent dinners): The cork was very wet. An insane quantity of sediment. The wine emerged very pale, a light purple-brown color, with a brandy aroma. On day one, very strong raisin flavor but quite thin. Similar on day two. But the last glasses on day three were very different -- much richer, intense caramel sweetness, with a walnut flavor. The raisin flavor was still there, but integrated into something much bigger. This was an unexpected pleasure. So I guess I would recommend, hesitantly, decanting this two days ahead.
November 24, 2023 - Great classic stuff on thanksgiving
November 18, 2023 - FTLOP 18th Anniversary; 11/17/2023-11/19/2023 (Seattle, Washington): Corked
October 13, 2022 - Pale red colour, almost brown,
Boiled sweets, old fashioned sweeties on the nose with cinnamon, tobacco and mint. More stuff going on with each swirl.
The palate is clean with delicate cherry fruit, highly aromatic with more of those menthol note. It's delicate and rather lovely. This was served at the end of a long evening and I think was only just opening up. Last sip was sublime. I would have loved to spend an evening over a bottle.
December 24, 2021 - Not much nose left, but the flavors are still there, tons of cherry, sweetness, menthol, the tannins are GONE in the bottom of the bottle. What a treat.
October 17, 2021 - Old and attenuated, sweet, prune-y and plummy, interesting dry finish.
October 10, 2020 - Delicious
March 27, 2020 - Wine was properly stored from purchase in 1970 until consumed.
Stunning, balanced. Plums, cherries, chocolate.
Completely ready to drink. Do not hold if you have more.
