September 16, 2023 - Académie des Cinquante Burgundy - Germany Tasting (Overveen): Tasted blind. Developed colour, marvellously fragrant nose, undergrowth, deep and spicy, juicy and supple, stalky energy, excellent length. Has improved considerably in bottle in the last five years. At peak.

August 2, 2020 - A bit aggressive. Nice brownish red colour. Pretty scents of German/Bugrundian pinot. Somewhat herbal tinged with high acid. Good depth to balance, but bitter and a bit coarse, despite well fruited. A bit difficult on this showing. Hmmmm.

February 27, 2020 - Fresh, saline, zesty pinot. Other think this Germanic. I find it more Gevrey villages. Way too expensive for the quality, but also a very nice wine indeed. Smokey strawberry. Zingy acids. Something of the sea about it. Underbrush. Tiny bit of sweetness to balance: indeed, excellent balance. A bit short. lactic fragrance lingers in the glass. Lifted and refreshing. But, yes, too expensive. Buy a reliable and freshness-focussed villages Burg wine next time. 90+

October 27, 2018 - Académie des Cinquante 63rd Annual Dinner (Restaurant Olivijn, Haarlem, NL): This is much more Germanic in character than the fabulous 2009 and almost equally good 2012, which were clearly made in a powerful Côte de Nuits style. Fermented and aged in 100% new barriques for 18 months, this 2011 is aromatically intense but on the lighter side, with spicy slate, clean blue fruit and a lovely balance between freshness and a, slightly lactic, natural fruity sweetness, the oak is well but not perfectly integrated and it dominates a bit on the finish. Very good, but drink now and over the next 2-3 years.

March 25, 2018 - A very German PN. Light color. Lots of cooked fruits on the palate and jam. Juniper berries and surprisingly notes of green apples and metal. It remains balanced, and also has some earthy notes and minerals. Though lacking length and refinement.
