Community Tasting Notes 10

February 4, 2016 - Nice lively noise with a little earthy funk in the background. Opened and decanted for an hour. Medium body with nice dried berry notes. Worked well with our bolognese sauce over pasta. Smoothed out and lost the funk the longer it was sipped during the evening.

    July 24, 2015 - Bret!

April 16, 2015 - Good dark fruit, put on weight with air. None of the fizz or volatility other reviewers note. Distinctly Italian, better with food than without. Healthy dose of funk. Great QPR @ $20.

March 19, 2015 - Was recommended by someone I know in my favor wine store and was also promoted via email from another my favor wine store...

I just don't get this kind of wine, juicy with fizz, taste more like infused grape juice. I did get some funk, maybe brett when I first poured it out, but it blew off after a few minutes in the glass.

October 16, 2014 - Not a good bottle. Very reductive, hydrogen sulphide nose on opening and lots of fizz almost like the frizzante. Flat and bitter on the palate. Put the bottle aside (in the fridge under vacuum pump, perhaps not a good idea). Tried again after two days and was even worse, yeasty with old sock taste. Undrinkable.

(Opened another bottle of same wine, same vintage, from same storage conditions straight after and it was very good, exactly how I remembered this non-frizzante is meant to taste so this was obviously an off bottle/bottle variation, possibly with some second fermentation going on in the bottle / after opening)
